Workforce & Labor Relations
Colorado hospitals are committed to delivering safe, high-quality health care to the patients and communities they serve. According to a recent economic impact study by the Colorado Hospital Association (CHA), Colorado hospitals currently employ more than 71,000 workers. Nonetheless, a shortage of skilled health care employees still exists, particularly within specialty-care settings and in rural areas of the state. CHA works closely with Colorado hospitals and a variety of key stakeholders in an effort to recruit and retain quality health care professionals and ensure that hospitals have an adequate supply of physicians, nurses and other necessary providers.
CHA participates in the Colorado Health Professions Workforce Policy Collaborative and advocates for resources to support the education of health care personnel and give consideration to the impact on personnel given different care delivery models. CHA also advocates for workforce strategies to make hospitals employers of choice and better enable them to provide a satisfying work environment for employees in all areas.
