Colorado Hospital Emergency Coordination System (CHECS)
As part of the 2009-2010 Hospital Preparedness Program grant, the Colorado Hospital Association was contracted to develop a communication system (a structure and process) to facilitate hospital-to-hospital emergency preparedness and response communication planning and response efforts. This project was funded by PanFlu HPP funds and was tied to improving medical surge capacity and capability related to an epidemic (such as H1N1). The resulting system, the Colorado Hospital Emergency Coordination System (CHECS), was not limited to epidemic response, but rather was designed to serve hospitals facing any disaster/critical event.
