Addressing the Workforce Shortage
The Colorado Hospital Association (CHA) works closely with Colorado hospitals to address the shortage of health care professionals in the state and to create more job opportunities for Coloradans. Hospitals are locally recruiting and training highly skilled medical professionals and bringing nurses and physicians to communities around the state. Colorado hospitals provide education for health professionals including trainings, residencies and continuing education. Workforce shortage issues are particularly acute in rural parts of the state, and CHA is committed to helping rural hospitals recruit and retain staff.
CHA recognizes the value all health care workers bring to our state, and works to aid them with a variety of services including educational opportunities and legislative support. CHA continually partners with physicians on important policy and regulatory issues, working to ensure that they are adequately reimbursed and providing them with new ways to collaborate with hospitals.
Nurses are valuable to our hospitals and to our patients as the frontline caregivers. Their importance is reflected in the acknowledgement they receive from the public as the most trusted health care professionals. Colorado hospitals support increasing resources to train nurses so hospitals have access to an adequate supply of nurses to fulfill their mission of providing excellent care to their patients.
